Healthcare has always been about more than technical knowledge alone.

It is about judgement, character, service, leadership - and what you choose to do with the opportunity you have been given.

Lanterns of Hope is a national summit for medical students, dental students and early-career clinicians who want to think beyond exams, placements, portfolios and the next application.

For one day in Manchester, students and young professionals from across the country will come together to explore a bigger question:

What could your career actually become?

For many students and early-career clinicians, life becomes a cycle of deadlines, revision, placements, rotations, applications and trying to keep up.

You are constantly moving, but rarely get the space to ask where you are actually going.

You might have energy, ideas and a genuine desire to make a difference - but no clear sense yet of where to channel it.

That is what this day is for.

🌍 The bigger picture

Healthcare is changing quickly. AI, technology, widening inequalities, changing communities and growing pressure on health systems will shape the world our generation inherits.

We will need excellent clinicians - but also thoughtful leaders, builders, educators, innovators and people willing to serve where they are needed most.

Lanterns of Hope is about bringing those people into one room.

Across the day, expect keynote talks, panels, workshops, exhibitors and meaningful opportunities to meet students, clinicians, leaders and organisations from across the country.

We will also be joined by major national and global organisations across healthcare, education, professional development and industry, with further partnership announcements coming soon.

This is not another day about making your CV longer.

It is a day designed to make you think more seriously about who you are becoming, what you care about and where your talent could take you.

🎤 Chaired by Dr Masood Ahmed
